Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC)


Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), a Schedule ‘A’-Mini Ratna, Category – 1 Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) is a statutory body which was established under ‘The Warehousing Corporations Act, 1962’. Its aim is to provide reliable, cost-effective, value-added, integrated warehousing and logistics solution in a socially responsible and environment friendly manner.

The authorised capital and total paid up capital of CWC are Rs. 68.02 Cr. and Rs. 74.52 Cr. respectively. During 2017-18, the turnover of CWC was Rs. 1582.94 Cr., its Profit Before Tax was Rs. 27.62 Cr. and its Profit After Tax was Rs. 31.88 Cr. CWC has paid a total dividend of Rs. 21.75 Cr. for the year 2017-18 to its shareholders.

As a premier Warehousing Agency, CWC was operating 428 warehouses as on 01.01.2019 with a total storage capacity of 99.07 lakh MT including 52 Custom Bonded Warehouses, 30 Container Freight Stations (CFSs)/ Inland Clearance Depots (ICDs), 3 Air Cargo Complexes (ACCs) and 3 Temperature Controlled Warehouses. CWC also provides services in the area of clearing & forwarding, handling & transportation, disinfestation, fumigation etc. It also offers consultancy services/ training to different agencies for construction of warehousing infrastructure.

CWC has 19 State Warehousing Corporations (SWCs) as its associates. Central Warehousing Corporation is 50% shareholder in the equity capital of the SWCs. The total investment of CWC in SWCs is Rs. 61.79 Crore. As on 01.01.2019, the SWCs were operating 2089 warehouses with a total storage capacity of 337.70 lakh MT.

Central Railside Warehouse Company Limited (CRWC)

Central Railside Warehouse Company Limited (CRWC) a Mini-Ratna, Category-II, Public Sector Enterprise was established on 10.07.2007 under the Companies Act, 1956.

The authorized capital and paid up share capital of CRWC is Rs. 150 Cr. and Rs 40.56 Cr respectively. The entire paid up share capital is presently being held by Central Warehousing Corporation. During 2017-18, the turnover of CRWC was Rs. 95.31 Cr. Its Profit Before Tax was Rs. 23.69 Cr. and Profit After Tax was Rs. 15.36 Cr. CRWC has paid dividend of Rs. 6.08 Cr. for 2017-18 to CWC.

CRWC has 19 Railside Warehouse Complexes (RWCs) with a total storage capacity of 3.46 lakh MT (as on 01.01.2019) and is providing efficient rail based total logistics solution, leveraging economy of scale to the advantage of all stakeholders.

CRWC aims to develop dedicated rail handling facilities (adjoining rail sidings) giving a boost to rail freight and in facilitating logistics requirement of its customers. Its objective is to promote the business of multimodal transport operations and aggregation/disaggregation of cargo for both domestic and impex movement.

CRWC has been providing integrated warehouse management and related logistic services, thereby, increasing overall efficiency, cost optimization, prevention of damages/pilferage, reduction in detention to rakes and improved quality of service all under one roof.
